杜美丝用于在电真空器材中与玻璃进行密封时作封接材料用，它采用铁-镍合金棒（或丝）作芯材，经表面镀铜（或套铜），然后进行拉制、退火和表面硼化处理而成。产品的熔封试验和方法达到或者超过国家标准GB11248—89中的有关规定。先进的表面镀铜（或套铜）技术使杜美丝表面状态呈均匀的砖红色或黄色等。产品有红杜美丝、淡（金黄）色杜美丝、白杜美丝、无硼杜美丝和光亮（防潮型）杜美丝等。
